Lipofilling

Lipofilling is an aesthetic-surgical intervention aimed at rejuvenating the body and improving the aesthetic aspect by filling some empty areas of the face or body with the transfer of fat taken from the same patient.

The fat taken from the body is reintroduced into the desired location just like a common filler to volumize and improve the appearance of the face, buttocks, calves and breasts.
Fat grafting can also help correct retractions and adhesions, as well as improve the appearance of scars perhaps due to the stem cells it contains.

Lipofilling, like common fillers, allows you to correct the body profile altered by age, stress, diets, excessive weight loss or excessive exposure to UV rays, but reducing the risk of intolerance or reaction to the inoculated substance. Basically there is nothing more natural than a "product" taken from our body!

Furthermore, while the hyaluronic acid and collagen fillers are completely reabsorbed limiting the rejuvenation effect at 3-12 months after treatment, lipofilling guarantees a more lasting result as only 30 - 40% of the transplanted fat is reabsorbed.
In some cases, to achieve the maximum desired effect, it may however be necessary to undergo more lipofilling procedures, 6 months apart from each other.

Lipofilling is particularly suitable for:

  • Redraw the face
  • Define cheekbones, cheeks and chin
  • Smooth out wrinkles
  • Volume up the lips
  • Fill buttocks and calves
  • Reshape sagging or underdeveloped breasts

In addition to aesthetic purposes, lipofilling is used to quickly repair injured tissues and promote wound healing.

The lipofilling procedure is normally performed under local anesthesia with sedation, in day surgery (surgery with daytime discharge).

One proceeds with the aspiration of a known quantity of adipose tissue by means of a cannula from areas in which it is abundantly present, such as the subcutaneous seat of the hips, abdomen, buttocks, external thighs or knee.
Before proceeding with the lipofilling, the fat taken is centrifuged to purify the fat from the anesthetic, from the blood and from the fluids that leak out due to the rupture of some adipocytes.
Subsequently, we proceed by implanting the adipose filler in the desired area, using an even thinner cannula.

The duration of the operation varies depending on the type and extent of the areas to be treated. In principle, the lipofilling procedure lasts from thirty minutes to about two hours. Being a treatment that is performed under local anesthesia, it is not very invasive (a slight swelling and a physiological edema) therefore the return to society is almost immediate.

Finally, an appropriate elastic-compression bandage will be applied in the treated areas in order to prevent side effects, such as edema and hematoma.
There are also scheduled medical check-ups, in order to constantly monitor the healing processes.

This type of operation has a double effect: it removes the small panels of localized fat and fills wrinkles or fills the desired areas.
